lyrics

PILGRIMAGE TO DEMENTIA

All the gates closed shut:
The virgin stands undone.
Angst and unuttered words
replace the beauty gone.

All that she knows is all that there is,
the umpteenth storm's but a mime.
Clamlike hands seek to push her out,
so disgusting, so benign.

Vast, monolithic traumas
tower along her way,
hounds starved on forlorn heartbeats
are poised to lead her astray.

Here runs no road to kneel down and pray,
this be no shelter to hide.
As the path follows on and daylight is gone
it's time to repent and open
wide...

Down she lies,
her pillow's a burial mound.
In the dark
fear looms over and makes no sound.

Makes no sound,
as is she,
caught in one drop of eternity.

What kind of a new Empire blossoms before her?
The horizon is vague,
It's borders seem not clear here.
Always had the virgin dreamt
that one night she might come here,
now she has arrived,
and the world is in fear.

Now hide!

Downtrodden fragments of life,
scavenged pieces of faith,
all lined up on a highway of hate,
along the one path that she's bound to take.

The trail she walks is alight.
Flames will sprout where she went
straight through the desert to the entrance
of an ancient and high, empty monument...
